25th Anniversary As you may know, St Andrews Company is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2008. We are hoping to run a number of commemorative events later in the year but we are also hoping to organise some fund-raising based on the theme of "25". Senior members have already been coming up with ideas linked to the number, such as a sponsored 25-hour event, 25 mile walk, etc. If you have any ideas or would like to be involved, please speak to any member of staff at Brigade or contact Capt Andrew Stubbs. |

National Band Competition - 17th May 2008 It took three and a half months to prepare for and involved 20 band members, 7 of whom had never performed at this level before, but the competition was a fantastic success. Despite being up against bands that were vastly more experienced, St Andrews managed to come away with runners-up trophies for Mallets and Drill & Deportment and an overall 4th place finish. This was an outstanding result considering some of the trainees were still getting to grips with marching a mere few weeks earlier! Congratulations to everyone involved - here's to next year! |

National Football Competition - 10th May 2008 Three teams from the Company travelled to Blackpool to compete in the National Football tournament. Every single member can be proud of the way they performed, and particularly the enthusiastic and sportsmanlike way they conducted themselves. It is a credit to the improvement that the senior girls team has made over the last year that they were justifiably disappointed to only finish in third place. More importantly however was the news that all three teams had impressed the referees and spectators so much with their positive attitude that they were awarded the Sportsmanship trophy - a richly deserved reward for everyone who took part. Well done! |
